In 1982, Scott Pucino became the first person ever to run a marathon on a treadmill. More than four decades later, his legacy is inspiring a new marathon and a new mission.
After a hard-fought battle with pancreatic cancer lasting one year and one day, Scott passed away in April 2025. To honor his father and carry forward the feat he pioneered, Scott’s son, Danny Pucino, will take on a treadmill marathon of his own, this time with a purpose beyond the 26.2 miles.
Danny’s run will raise funds to support Imperial College London’s development of a non-invasive breath test designed to detect gastrointestinal cancers at earlier stages.
Every mile is for more time, more memories, and more life.
